Our Purpose
Because we
desire to see our teens grow in their
understanding of sacrificial service to others whose needs are greater
than our
own; and
Because we
want opportunities for our teens to fellowship with other home schooled
teens;
and
Believing
that
our teens are privileged and blessed, and that it is our
responsibility to
give to others out of our abundance; and
Believing
that the
best
relationships are built by working and playing together:
Our
primary focus
is
serving in our community, allowing us the
opportunity to demonstrate the love and compassion of God by giving of
our
time, talents, and resources. We desire to concentrate our efforts on
ministering to needy children.
Our secondary focus is developing friendship and camaraderie within the group through various entertainment activities and group games.
Team
Impact is open to all teen home-schooled children in grades 7-12. We
are centered in the
Glendale/Peoria
area.
There
are two types of meetings—service and fun. Service meetings consist of
preparing
projects in homes or working on-site at a needy organization. These
meetings are scheduled monthly, according to the need of the
organization.
Fun
meetings are intended for the refreshment and bonding of the teens, to
allow
them a time to experience the feeling of acceptance that comes from
being with a
group of like-minded folks. Fun meetings are also held monthly.
Some
meetings are recreational sports; others may be movies, parties,
games,
swimming, or whatever is appealing to the group.
Students
who participate will grow in their leadership skills, as we
increasingly
request
students to take on the responsibilities of organizing and implementing
plans
of action to accomplish service tasks or pull together the details of
social meetings.
Another
benefit of participation is
documentation of service for high school transcripts. A
certificate will be
presented to each student who participates in at least half of the
service
projects during the school year. Attendance is taken at each
service
meeting.
